Business Computing – A Blend of Business and IT Skills
Business computing involves the application of various technologies to meet business information needs. It is a combination of the fields of business and computer science and may include some aspects advanced computing. Graduates are prepared for careers in the field of business working on computing/technical matters or in the IT field.
The course is deeply grounded in the real world, with guests lecturers from business and engineering partners sharing their insights into real-world business issues. You will also have the chance to develop live briefs that apply your technical knowledge to real-world challenges. You will learn a broad range of business and IT capabilities over the course starting from the development of software applications to learning how to analyse data with the aim of delivering new solutions to businesses.
During your first year, your focus will be on subjects like accounting and marketing and gain hands-on with the latest computing and IT technologies. You will develop your IT and business knowledge to prepare for your placement year. It could be on campus or at one of our numerous partner organizations throughout Kent and London. You’ll finish with a unique mix of IT and business knowledge that could lead to a variety of options for careers, including web development and software development customer service, data analytics. Former graduates have worked for companies such as Accenture, BP FDM and Spotify.
